Member Honor Lanham acts as amicus in high-profile judicial review hearing

Cases

November 29, 2020

Member Honor Lanham recently acted as counsel assisting the Court (amicus curiae) in a judicial review proceeding brought by high-profile RSA murderer William Bell.

Mr Bell represented himself at the two-day hearing—held at the Auckland High Court over 2 and 3 December 2020—in which he challenged changes to his prison security classification.

Ms Lanham assisted the Court by providing an independent view of the legal and evidential issues.   A report of the hearing can be found here. Justice Woolford reserved his decision.
